The Essential Calvin and Hobbes was the first treasury of Calvin and Hobbes strips. It compiled the strips first printed in Calvin and Hobbes and Something Under the Bed Is Drooling. In addition, it included a foreword by Charles M. Schulz and an original illustrated poem, "A Nauseous Nocturne."
