Calvin the Elephant

From The Calvin and Hobbes Wiki

"Calvin the Elephant" is a short story at the beginning of The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes.

Calvin can't memorize his vocabulary words, so he uses his transmogrifier to change himself into an elephant. He makes a lot of noise, annoying his mom. Calvin finishes his homework instantly, because "elephants never forget." He then goes outside to play, startling Hobbes. While Calvin and Hobbes are playing in the mud, Susie comes. Because Susie does not see Calvin as an elephant, she does not understand his joke about the Republican Party. Calvin's mom then calls him into the house for dinner. She is startled, not because Calvin is an elephant, but because he is so dirty after playing in the mud. She orders him to take a bath. After doing so, Calvin transmogrifies himself back to a boy and goes to dinner. When his dad asks Calvin to remember a vocabulary word, he can't, because he only remembers them as an elephant. Calvin is told to spend more time memorizing after dinner, but reads comic books instead and gets Hobbes to do his homework.
