Calvin and Hobbes was the self-titled first collection of Calvin and Hobbes strips. The book was released in April 1987 and collects the strips from November 18, 1985 to August 17, 1986. It includes a foreward by Gary Trudeau. The Sunday strips were reprinted in color in The Essential Calvin and Hobbes, as well as the recently released The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.
