Bats have been featured twice in Calvin and Hobbes.

Calvin did a report on bats for school in this 1989 story arc. In it, Calvin exposed his dubious knowledge of bats (he firmly believed them to be bugs), and as he had done no research, failed the assignment.

Alter egoEdit

A bat was once featured as a minor alter ego of Calvin's. It appeared in a single strip where Calvin's family eats out at a formal restaurant, and was used to symbolize Calvin's poor table manners.
